I have had two situations/conversations recently that have really made me want to ask everyone to hit the pause button for just a second before putting cattle on their places.  And this has really made think about this a little bit deeper. Let me first start by saying that as a person who loves agriculture, wants to see agricultural land preserved, likes a diversity of people farming and really enjoys cattle – I am all for people discovering this great animal and engaging in this industry.

84,000 Signatures Strong, Groups Demand USDA Protect Farmers over Meat Monopolies

National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition

Today farm and rural advocacy organizations delivered more than 84,000 petition signatures to USDA offices as part of a campaign urging the agency to take action to protect farmers from corporate abuse and exploitation in the livestock sector.

In May, the USDA announced its intent to publish a new rule under the Packers and Stockyards Act (PSA), a major piece of antitrust legislation governing the livestock and poultry industries.
