"Opportunities for Fairness in Farming Act" Seeks Checkoff Reform
More than 80 farm groups asked congressional lawmakers to reform commodity checkoff programs in a letter sent to the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday. Last month, the "Opportunities for Fairness in Farming Act" was reintroduced by Sens. Mike Lee, R-Utah, and Cory Booker, D-N.J. In the House, Reps. Dave Brat, R-Va., and Dina Titus, D-Nevada, introduced companion legislation to reform checkoff programs.
