Record keeping for the cow/calf operation

Record keeping is an often under-utilized or ignored tool in beef cattle management. Collecting, maintaining and utilizing records requires an investment in time, which is a premium for most cow/calf operators; however, this time investment often makes the difference between generating a profit and simply having money in the bank account at the end of the year. Records should be maintained for three primary areas; 1) production/performance, 2) operations and 3) financial.
