Brazil to double cattle on feedlots in response to rising global demand for beef

Rural financier Rabobank reports the world’s largest beef exporter Brazil could slaughter 9 million lot-fed cattle a year. That represents an investment of between $250-$570 million. Rabobank analyst Angus Gidley-Baird says the plan responds to the increasing demand for higher quality meat, using corn and soybean crops grown in western Brazil.
