Veterinary students join stock show’s volunteer drug-testing team

Before they’re allowed to strut into Beef Palace, beautified steers, hogs, sheep, goats and beef cattle headed for the food chain after the National Western Stock Show have to pass a drug test. Livestock for sale at the stock show this year were greeted by 15 veterinary students from Colorado State University. It was the first time students joined a team of about 60 volunteers in holding sample cups under the animals, sometimes for hours, and testing the urine.
