The bloat-causing potential is related to the rate of digestion by rumen microbes. The fine portions of bloat-causing forages are digested rapidly whereas bloat-safe forages are digested slower.

Outbreak in Europe May Revive Stalled U.S. Effort to Tighten Rules on Food Safety

For now, the focus in this country is on beef, since E. coli lives in the guts of cows.
In January, the United States Department of Agriculture drafted a much-anticipated proposal to regulate six forms of toxic E. coli in meat, in addition to the most common form, O157:H7, which is already regulated.

Several questions about estrus synchronization program called Super Sync. The promoter claims a legal product that does not use CIDRs. However, the product uses estradiol as primary component of program. There is not a legal source of estradiol in the US so this product is illegal.

Here is a program that I use on my herd of Red Poll cattle. We artificially inseminate most of the cows and I use a super clean up bull on them afterwards to keep a short calving season. My good friend and mentor Dr. Dan Schmiesing from St. Henry, Ohio helped me work out this program.
