Fran Wallace saw her first mosquito of the year by the end of March, was spraying herself to ward off ticks before checking pastures on Easter weekend, and noticed biting flies on her livestock by mid-April. A cow-calf producer near Nelson, Neb., she said that she doesn’t remember ever feeling the need to use pour-on insecticide this early in the season before.
